CHRISTMAS EVE
At Christmas, Christians around the world mark the birth of Jesus with gatherings, worship, acts of service, and joyful celebrations. While our full hearts compel us to share gifts with family, loved ones, and those less fortunate, this season has a higher meaning. At Christmas, we affirm that God - the source of life, the one who redeems us, and the spirit who guides us - came among humanity in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is “Immanuel,” - God with us, God among us. God entered the world through Christ, not on an earthly throne, but in a humble manger. In Christ’s life, we see in human terms how God wants us to live - we understand God’s dream for creation! In Jesus, we see God’s tender love for the human family. We learn that Jesus’s message is radical and transformative: our purpose is to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. As the church, we celebrate that God is loving, liberating, and life-giving! Join us as we proclaim the mystery of our faith, the joy of life, and recommit to building the Beloved Community, the Kingdom of God in our time and place!
