This fun and lively evening will consist of a meal, wine, and fellowship with a decedent dessert and silent auction as well! Come bid on our auction items generously donated by members, anything from an evening out to a Spokane Indians Baseball game to homemade pottery! This is a night of fun and enjoyment for the whole family.
Shrove Tuesday (or Mardi Gras, French for “Fat Tuesday”) is celebrated before Ash Wednesday and is the final day before the 40 day period of Lent begins. Its name comes from the Germanic-Old English word “shrive,” meaning absolve, and it is the last day of the liturgical season historically known as Shrovetide. Shrove Tuesday also became a day for pre-fasting indulgence. In particular, the need to use up rich ingredients such as butter, milk, sugar and eggs before Lent gave rise to the tradition of eating pancakes on this day.
Donation of $5 is requested at the door, with $5 for 1, or $25 for 6 tickets for the wine raffle! Proceeds benefit the mission and outreach of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
All are welcome to join us on Wednesday 2/21 at 5:30 pm for our Ash Wednesday service.
